The draft E2EDM development technology concept was presented by Nickolay Mikhailov (Russian NODC/ RIHMI-WDC, Russian Federation) at the First Session of the JCOMM Expert Team on Data Management Practices, Oostende, 15-18 September 2003) (see the report of ETDMP session-I).

The review of PILOT PROJECT III has been presented at the Ad hoc Session of the JCOMM/IODE Expert Team on Data Management Practices (ETDMP) (Flanders Marine Institute Oostende, Belgium 8 May 2004. The E2EDM concept and working plan for the E2EDM prototype were adopted.

The draft of technical specifications of the E2EDM technology prototype were developed, including data model, metadata/data record formats, Data Exchange Protocol formats. The working version of the E2EDM software components to provide the functions of Data Provider and Integration Server services were developed and E2EDM Prototype Demo was done. The E2EDM Prototype Web-site including general information about Pilot Project, Technical Specifications, Software and other tools was launched.
Aipril, 2005
The E2EDM technology technical specifications and software were improved. The Data Providers were installed at RIHMI-WDC (Russia) and VLIZ (Belgium) and these tools provided remote access and integration historical ocean cruise data and GTS BATHY/TESAC data for North-Atlantic. The E2EDM Integration Server was installed at VLIZ with mirror of this tool at RIHMI-WDC.
The E2EDM prototype was successfully demonstrated at IODE-XVII session (see, IODE-XVII report).
Augest, 2005
The Data Providers were installed at IFREMER (France) and MetOffice (UK) for local data systems – Argo data and marine meteo data from MCSS project. The software for E2EDM Data Access Service was developed and tested. The E2EDM technology documentation was updated.

The E2EDM prototype was successfully demonstrated at IOC/WMO JCOMM - II session (see, JCOMM-II report).
October, 2005
Representatives of JCOMM, Mr. Boob Keeley and Mr. Nicolay Mikhailov presented the report of the current status of E2EDM technology at the Interprogramme Coordination Group for WMO Information System (Boulder, USA). The decision to use E2EDM as block of WMO IS was adopted.
December, 2005
The E2EDM technology technical specifications and software were improved, including data granularity, metadata/data record formats, creation specific federation of data sources. The E2EDM technology was began to test under Unified System of Information for World Ocean Conditions and the E2EDM data sources were expanded by means of the creation new federation of data sources.
March, 2006
Representatives of ETDMP and E2EDM developing team were presented the report of the current status of E2EDM technology at the GISC-DCPC Developer meeting (Langen, Germany).
May, 2006
The E2EDM technology technical specifications and software were significantly improved, including metadata records for users (external applications), metadata and data integration and other. The E2EDM data sources were expanded to provide functions for Marine warning system support. The appropriated external application – E2EDM Marine Warning System was developed.
Representatives of ETDMP and E2EDM developing team were participated in meetings of WMO Expert Teams for metadata and WMO IS (Moscow, Russia). The conditions and specifications were agreed for use of E2EDM technology as WMO IS DCPC.
